Despite breaking player records, Bethesda’s latest RPG Starfield has become the studio’s lowest-rated game on Steam, dropping just below Fallout 76.
Releasing earlier this month and described as ‘Fallout in space’, Starfield is Bethesda’s latest addition to the RPG genre. Despite setting a new record for the studio by reaching 10 million players in the first few weeks, it hasn’t received the best reviews. As it stands, the game currently sits at a Mostly Positive rating on Steam with a total of 90,000 user reviews. However, almost 25,000 of these are negative which makes Starfield Bethesda’s lowest-rated game so far.

This is even more surprising considering Fallout 76 has had a rocky road since it was released in 2018. With a series of issues at launch, the most recent addition to the Fallout series has had to receive many patches to make it the game it is today. With Fallout 76 earning a 71.76% rating according to Steam DB figures, it is edging ahead of Starfield which currently sits at 71.38%.
With more plans for the space RPG in the works, including the Shattered Space DLC arriving sometime in 2024, Bethesda is not done with Starfield. However, it remains to be seen if it will continue being the studio’s lowest-rated game so far.
