GTA 6 750GB file size and 400 hours of gameplay detailed by leaker

Despite not knowing when it will be released, the arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI is hands down one of, it not the most highly anticipated games in recent memory.

Check out our GTA VI rumour round up video below!

Yet to this very day, other than announcing that GTA VI is currently in development, Rockstar Games has at least officially, not given fans anything to chew on, which is why we’ve had to rely mostly on a constant flurry of rumours and speculation.

Some of the rumours claim that GTA VI will take us back to the iconic Miami-inspired location of Vice City, as well as some regions of South America, not to mention that it will reportedly feature two playable protagonists named Jason and Lucia, inspired by historic crime duo, Bonnie and Clyde.

However, the latest rumour could be quite literally the biggest yet and is a cause of concern for those who are already struggling with precious console storage space. In a tweet shared by ‘GTA 6 News’, a GTA leaker claims that the sixth numbered entry in this iconic series will demand a ridiculous file size of 750GB and around 400 hours of gameplay.

Firstly, we have no issue with 400 hours of gameplay, as long as it can keep players entertained and engaged throughout, but a 750GB file size, really? If these rumours are true, it will pose a massive problem for PC and console gamers alike.

For example, while the PS5 is advertised as having an 825GB SSD internal hard drive, just under 158GB is automatically reserved to system files, leaving just 667.GB for the player to use. Obviously, the rumoured GTA VI file size exceeds that number by over 80GB. As for the Xbox Series X (and Series S Carbon Black model), the situation is a little better. The Series X has an internal hard drive of 1TB SSD, with 198GB reserved for system files, leaving 802GB for the player. Still, that would’nt leave room for much else following the installation of GTA VI.

Unfortunately for the standard Series S (white model), you’ve got no hope if the rumours are true, that’s assuming that GTA VI is even released on this mini console with its 512GB SSD hard drive. The only way around this potential storage issue would be to buy additional SSD internal storage for PS5 and SSD expansion cards for the Xbox Series X|S.

That all being said, as with any unconfirmed rumours and speculation, we should take them with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. Surely, GTA VI wouldn’t demand 750GB of storage, right? We certainly hope that will not be the case.

It is expected that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
